Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul performer, writer and actress. She is the recipient of numerous awards including a Grammy Award a Children's and Family Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award along with nominations for an Academy Award. Andra Day, a talented artist and singer-songwriter who has roots in gospel music and blues with a passion for contemporary music is a strong performer and a gifted song-writer. Cheers to the Fall (2015) her debut album that was a huge success cracked the Top Ten of the R&B/hip-hop and set the stage for some Grammy nominations as well as one Academy Award nomination with Stand Up for Something (2017) her part in the soundtrack for Marshall receiving both awards. Andra day was born Cassandra Monique Batie, in Edmonds Washington. She grew up in San Diego and the metropolitan region. The track was instantly popular and was played on radio by many DJs. The singer later was signed to Warner Bros. Records and began work with the producer Adrian Gurvitz to record her debut album, Cheers to the fall (2015). It featured the track Rise Up which became an iconic song of social justice campaigns around the world. Day was awarded the album two Grammy nominations for her album including Best R&B Album. The United States vs. Billie Holiday, a concept-album featuring the legendary jazz vocalist's existence, debuted in 2019. The actress also appeared in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, a film on Holiday. Andi Matichak was an American actress. Her debut on television was in shows like 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods prior to making her feature film debut on the screen as Allyson Nelson in the horror film series Halloween and the sequels.
